The "Implementation Plan for Promoting High Quality Development of Industrial Tourism in Beijing (2025-2027)" jointly released by the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Economy and Information Technology and the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Culture and Tourism recently clarifies that Beijing will increase efforts to develop industrial tourism resources, striving to achieve an annual industrial tourism population of 20 million and an industrial tourism revenue of 3 billion yuan by 2027.
Industrial tourism is a new form of tourism that integrates and develops resources such as production processes, site features, and brand culture, providing diversified services such as sightseeing, consumer experience, and science education to the public. At present, Beijing has formed an industrial culture that combines historical accumulation and innovative characteristics. It will deeply explore the connotation of industrial culture, create new consumption scenarios, enhance the competitiveness of industrial enterprises, promote service-oriented manufacturing and industrial technological innovation, comprehensively demonstrate the urban memory of modern industry, the image of the new industrialization era, and the fashionable style of modern cities.
According to the implementation plan, Beijing will highlight five themes of "super factories, fashion frontiers, urban revitalization, craftsmanship inheritance, and industrial memory", optimize the spatial layout of industrial tourism resources, and compile and release an industrial tourism directory map with capital characteristics. Encourage industrial enterprises and cultural and tourism institutions to develop resources such as factory workshops, industrial parks, industrial heritage, and industrial museums, optimize the quality of industrial tourism supply, and jointly create an industrial tourism destination that integrates tourism, shopping, and experience.
The relevant person in charge of the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Economy and Information Technology stated that Beijing will improve the service level of industrial tourism throughout the entire process by promoting the transformation of factory areas to adapt to tourism, enhancing market-oriented operation capabilities, expanding the consumption of fashion products, and enhancing digital technology experiences.
